The Missing Brick
The Missing Brick is Tycho's facilitation practice: LEGO® Serious Play® for team development, strategy and change. Within Orobie Basecamp it is the second half of the format, where the conversation becomes a model.
Why bricks
In a classic session the three loudest voices speak. With LEGO® Serious Play® everyone builds first, and only then is anything said, about the model, not about the person.
That shifts the conversation from opinions to what is actually on the table: connections, tensions and dependencies nobody had named out loud.
What people avoid saying in a meeting, they do put on the table in bricks. And once it stands there, it can be discussed without anyone having to defend themselves.
Every model goes on the same table. Connections, tensions and dependencies become literally visible, including the things nobody said out loud.
Because everyone built the model, the decision belongs to everyone. That's the difference between a strategy on a slide and a strategy that is still alive on Monday.

Lives in the Flemish Ardennes, second home in the Alta Val Seriana. Came for the mountains, stayed for the talks. Knows the paths, the rifugi and the people in the valley, and knows exactly which climb stops a discussion.
Head of Walks
Our dog, and the only one with a title he never had to justify. Sets the pace, forces breaks that no one had planned, and makes sure no one takes themselves too seriously.
