WALK in the Flemish Ardennes

Leave the meeting room behind without losing a day to travel.

What it is

Half or full day of walking

We take a decisive step: we leave the meeting room or the familiar workshop space behind. We make time to step away from the running business and take hold of what needs taking hold of, with a clear action plan as the outcome.

Why the Flemish Ardennes? Because it's close, an hour from Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp. We work in two places: Michelbeke, where the hills and sunken lanes deliver beautiful views, and the Muziekbos in Ronse, where you really notice the forest air. You're home the same evening, with a different conversation behind you.

  • A team that can free up half a day, but not three.
  • A leadership team that has to cut a knot and can't do it around a table.
  • A group that has seen too many workshops and needs something else.

We had been meeting about the same decision for a year. After one day of walking it was made, and, more importantly, everyone stood behind it.

The rhythm

How a day here unfolds.

  1. 01

    Calm departure

Check-in, the psychological contract, and one landing question per person to set off with.

  2. 02

    First climb, W

In pairs, fifteen minutes each. From judgement to observation: what is really happening here?

  3. 03

    Rest point

One sentence per person. No debate, no response.

  4. 04

    Silent stretch

Walking alone. No task, no conversation, this is where the work happens.

  5. 05

    Plateau, A

In trios: how would the other person describe this? From certainty to curiosity.

  6. 06

    Break with no task

Eat, sit, stay quiet or talk about something else.

  7. 07

    New pairs, L

Which assumption are you treating as a fact? What keeps the pattern alive?

  8. 08

    K with a buddy check

First alone, then with your buddy: what will you do differently within 72 hours, and who will notice?

  9. 09

    Back at base

Harvest, and the bridge to the bricks: build what you see now and didn't see before.

Who it's for

For teams and for individual business leaders.

For teams

Walking side by side removes the table. No head of the table, no laptops, no slide deck to hide behind.

  • Pairs and trios rotate, so nobody spends the whole day with the same person.
  • Whoever usually dominates gets the same time as everyone else, no more.
  • The half day also works as a run-up to a LEGO® Serious Play® session that same afternoon.

For individual business leaders

An open WALK day with a small group of entrepreneurs, each bringing their own question.

  • Six to eight business leaders from entirely different industries.
  • You hear how someone from another sector looks at your problem.
  • Not a networking event: one question per person, and it gets finished.

What you take home

Not a report. A plan.

  • New language for something that circled for months.
  • Sight of your own part in it, the step most teams skip.
  • At least one concrete choice per person, with a first visible step within 72 hours.
