Orobie Basecamp

Format 03

Remote in Italy

Disconnect and focus fully on yourself and your business.

What it is

Three or five days

When you really want to focus, we head for our basecamp in the Orobie Alps. We disconnect from the familiar and give ourselves over to a three- or five-day retreat: full focus on ourselves and on the business.

Why the Orobie Alps? Because almost nobody drives there. No resort, no conference hotel, one base in Spiazzi di Gromo where you unpack once and the valleys come to you. Above 1,200 metres there is no reason left to hold your phone.

  • A leadership team that has to choose a direction and wants days to do it.
  • A team after a growth spurt, a merger or a departure that left something open.
  • An entrepreneur who wants three days of thinking instead of three days of meetings.

Three days without a phone sounded like a luxury. It turned out to be the only way to finally think about where the business had to go.

The rhythm

How a day here unfolds.

  1. 01

Day 1, arrive and let go

Arrival in Spiazzi, a short walk to the ridge, and in the evening the context and the first question on the table.

  2. 02

    Day 2, the long day

A full day on the trail: W on the first climb, A on the plateau, lunch in a rifugio, and a first model in bricks in the evening.

  3. 03

    Day 3, pattern and choice

L and K, with a silent stretch and a buddy check. What do we leave behind, and what do we choose?

  4. 04

    Day 4, slower (five-day version)

A second high walk, or a slow day: village, water, reading, and a one-to-one walk.

  5. 05

    Final day, the plan

Breakfast, a morning walk, the action plan on paper, and a long lunch with the people of the valley.

Who it's for

For teams and for individual business leaders.

For teams

Three to five days away from the meeting room, with one question and one harvest a day.

  • Days 1 and 2 surface what's going on; day 3 onwards makes the choices.
  • LEGO® Serious Play® in the evening at base, while the day's conversation is still warm.
  • One base: you unpack once and the valleys come to you.

For individual business leaders

A small group of entrepreneurs from different sectors, each with one question worth days of walking.

  • Six to eight business leaders, no two from the same industry.
  • A mirror held up by people who don't know your company and want nothing from you.
  • Evenings at one table instead of in a boardroom.

What you take home

Not a report. A plan.

  • An action plan you made yourself, with owners and dates.
  • A shared model in bricks, photographed so it still means something back home.
  • A checkpoint after thirty days, because the retreat doesn't end at goodbye.

Honest about the hurdles

Three objections, three answers.

I'm not a hiker

You don't have to be. No climbing experience is needed and the pace adapts to the group, not the other way round. The slowest day sets the rhythm.

My business can't spare me for five days

Then there's something worth five days of thinking. And if three days is more honest for your calendar, we choose three.

There's only four of us

For an existing team that works. Smaller isn't less; the pace gets more intimate and the conversation reaches the core faster.

Local commitment

What you spend here stays in the valley.

The Alta Val Seriana is not resort country. We work only with people who live here, and with initiatives that create work for those who struggle to find it.

Local businesses only

Every bed, every meal, every guide and every transfer comes from someone who lives in the Val Seriana. No tour operator in between, no commission chain.

The money stays in the valley

What a retreat costs here pays for a rifugio's roof, a trattoria's kitchen and a guide's winter. That's the difference between visiting a region and keeping it alive.

Social employment

We work with initiatives that create jobs for people with few options here: trail maintenance, catering, transport and retreat logistics.

Outside the season

Our retreats fall in spring and autumn, exactly when the valley is quietest. Work in the months that would otherwise be empty.

Does this format fit your question?

Thirty minutes is enough to know whether this works. We discuss the question, the group and the right length.
